Jazz is a dance technique that incorporates rhythm, syncopation and fast paced strong movement. Our classes start by exploring the body’s range of motion with isolations of the head, shoulders, ribcage, hips, feet and arms. Jazz focuses on the natural movement of the body and our classes are designed to increase body control and coordination. Every class encourages individual expression and finishes with routines set to modern and contemporary music, which gets the students dancing and having fun. The level of difficulty of these classes will increase with each level.

Ballet level 1 (ages 3-4)
This is an introductory movement class structured to establish the foundations of ballet technique while also fostering an understanding of the roots of classical ballet, creativity, and an interest in movement. Students complete a curriculum of study that incorporates beginning ballet concepts, rhythmic structure and awareness, pantomime, use of space, spatial awareness through a progressive curriculum of locomotor and non-locomotor strengthening and stretching exercises.  Emphasis is placed on classroom etiquette and class structure, cooperation, and responsibility. Above all, students are encouraged to explore their own creative abilities and talents through a playful approach to dance.

Ballet levels 2 & 3 (ages 5–7)
At this stage our youngest dancers are learning to move their bodies. They practice coordination, elasticity and musicality, while strengthening their legs and backs. They learn to listen and to count music, to leap, as well as to move across the room and the concentration of standing still. Often they have the opportunity to improvise their own routines and feel the freedom of movement. They will be introduced to basic ballet technical language and steps.

Ballet levels 4 & 5 (ages 8-16)
At this level students will continuously work on improving their strength and elasticity, but most importantly is that they will be completely immersed into a full Ballet Technique Class. They will warm up at the barre, and proceed to center exercises with combinations of all different levels in adagios, petit allegros, and grand allegros. They will work on developing their stage presence, on improving the control and placement of their body and the oldest level will be introduced to pointe work.

*Students will only start pointe work after the directors’ approval.
